Chairmans Remarks 2008

The pavilion is built…Yes the pavilion is BUILT… fully furnished ready to rock and we have the Keys!

I can’t wait to get going now and what better way to get under way than a Grand opening day for the new pavilion on Sunday 20th April at 12.30.

Everyone is welcome and the pavilion will be officially opened by David Howells of Tottenham Hotspur with the Mayor of Guildford and Local MP Anne Milton in attendance.

It’s going to be a busy, probably frenetic day with Kids football, tennis and colts cricket taking place.

And when all the ceremonies are over, the Cricket season actually starts the following Sunday with a Friendly at Pepper Harrow.

Please make the captains jobs as easy as possible by letting them know your availability as soon as possible. The fixtures are available on the fixture pages and the official fixture card will be coming to you shortly.

Games will be played at both the Worplesdon and Burpham grounds this season.

Nets are still taking place at George Abbot School on Tuesday nights between 9-10 until 29th April. Outdoor nets and training will then start from Thursday 1st May at 7pm at Burpham. Hopefully as the season goes on we will have some grass nets at Worplesdon to practice on too.

The club has been actively recruiting new members over the winter months so I really hope we can plan for a strong showing in the leagues this season and an enjoyable one both on and off the field.

Finally, My thanks must go to Alan Simpson and Dave Smith (Worplesdon FC) for their tireless work in seeing our new pavilion project through to completion, so when you are enjoying a drink at the bar just remember who made this whole thing a reality - An incredibly difficult job well done!

I really do look forward to seeing you all at the open day!

Chairman
